Why Clean Beauty?
Before we kick off with the glitz and glam of my top clean giving gifts, let’s chat WHY Beautycounter:
Currently, there are 40 other countries that have stricter regulations about the ingredients that go into personal care products than the United States. The European Union has the strictest regulation, banning over 1,400 ingredients from their products. Wrap your head around this: in the US, we are slathering the same 1,400 ingredients on our skin that are “not fit for human health” in Europe, but somehow they’re okay for us? Umm, not okay with me.
The United States is severely behind when it comes to ingredient safety and testing ingredients for human health safety. The last time a major federal law was created or changed about the ingredients allowed in our products was 1938. 82 years ago, yikes! There are only 30 ingredients banned from being allowed in products sold in the US — and over 80% of the ingredients allowed to be put into our products have never been tested for human health safety.
That’s a lot of stats and numbers, but here’s the bottom line: our skin is our largest organ and what we use on it truly affects our health. Before Beautycounter, I was always under the assumption that the FDA had our backs and I thought as long as it was on a store shelf, safety was front of mind. Sadly, this is wrong (and so many people are unaware like I was!).

Okay, so onto my Top 10 fabulous holiday gift sets!
