On Tuesday, after a little camping weekend with friends on Lake Superior, I had another audiology test and learned that my hearing has decreased in both ears and my speech test also is dwindling. Trying to stay positive but it’s going downhill so fast which is scary. I also am now being referred to a Neurotologist and am scheduled for a battery of tests at the National Dizzy & Balance Center. I read my diagnoses summary and the ENT keeps adding to the list. (Meniere’s Disease, bilateral tinnitus, bilateral sensorineural hearing loss, sudden hearing loss, etc.)
I’ve been told to start taking ASL while I can still hear and I’m not allowed to work for another 6 weeks at a minimum, likely forever. The doctor has checked “markedly limited” in most boxes of work responsibilities such as “use judgment and make decisions”, “understand, remember, and carry out complex job instructions, and “perform a variety of duties”. The next strongest option is “unable to perform”. Heart wrenching for me, just a girl who got a master’s degree and was transitioning from sales-based HR work to being a DEI Manager, the career goal I stated on my graduate application.
I have to take more steroids, more diuretics… I have been ordered to zero physical activity, not to drive, no meetings.
I’ll probably have a good cry soon as it’s been a tough few days. So, even though I’m smiling on social media, everything isn’t perfect. I know we all know this for ourselves and as we scroll through our pretty feed of others’ lives. We all have our stuff.
Thankfully, blogging again and getting back to my love for fashion is a fun, happy distraction and my plan b right now. I truly appreciate every like, comment, follow, and click – hopefully something you see or read helps bring joy to your day (and your closet)!
P.S. I’ve been discovering so much great Amazon fashion lately! I love this top and the denim shorts are high quality! You can shop the look here.
